Are Your Car Lights Ready for the Darker Evenings?
As the days get shorter and darker evenings arrive, your vehicle’s lights become even more important. Whether you’re commuting home, driving on unlit country roads or heading out in poor weather, good visibility is essential for keeping you and other road users safe.
At R & J Car Services, we recommend checking all your vehicle’s exterior lights regularly throughout autumn and winter.

It’s easy to miss a failed bulb, particularly if it’s at the rear of the vehicle. That’s why it’s worth checking your:
💡 Headlights
💡 Sidelights
💡 Brake lights
💡 Indicators
💡 Rear lights
💡 Number plate lights
💡 Fog lights
A blown bulb doesn’t just reduce your ability to see and be seen. Faulty lights can also cause problems when your vehicle goes in for its MOT.
Headlight condition is particularly important during the darker months. If one bulb has failed or your headlights appear noticeably dimmer than they used to, it’s worth having them inspected. Cloudy or damaged headlight lenses can also reduce the amount of light reaching the road.
Don't forget your brake lights either. Because you can't easily see them from the driver's seat, you might not realise there's a problem until somebody else points it out.
